Updated Management of Care Equipment Literature Review and associated NIPCM and CHIPCM content
27 Mar 2026
The literature review on the Management of Care Equipment has been updated as part of its routine review cycle. Its title has been revised to Management of Non-Invasive, Reusable, Shared Care Equipment Literature Review to better reflect the scope and focus of the document.
The findings emphasise the importance of complying with recognised industry efficacy standards, rather than prescribing specific actions or highlighting particular active ingredients, such as chlorine within cleaning and decontamination products. This approach ensures that practice is guided by robust, evidence-based performance criteria rather than individual product components.
This update was completed using the revised methodology, with further detail available in the associated development process documentation.
A set of supporting documents has been published alongside the updated literature review, including:
- Considered Judgement Forms
- Evidence Tables
- Summary of Recommendations and Good Practice Points
These can be viewed on the Management of care equipment literature review page.
